So far, more than 1,000 Russian soldiers have been killed in Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry

Ukraine’s Defence Ministry on Friday said more than 1,000 Russian servicemen have been killed so far in the conflict.

“Russia has not suffered so many casualties during the fighting in any of its armed conflicts since its inception,” the ministry said, Reuters reported.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky said that 137 Ukrainians, both military personnel and civilians, had been killed since the start of the attack early Thursday, AFP reported.

Earlier on Thursday, Russia claimed that its army had destroyed more than 70 military targets, including 11 airfields, in Ukraine.

In the deadliest single strike, 18 people were killed at a military base near Ukraine’s Black Sea port city of Odessa on Thursday.

Amid the ongoing conflict with Russia, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appealed for anti-war coalition.

Zelenskyy voiced for effective international assistance and said there is a need to put Russia at the negotiating table.

The Ukraine President said that he discussed the same with his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda.

“Appealed to the Bucharest Nine for defense aid, sanctions, pressure on the aggressor,” he added.

The Ukraine President also discussed the ongoing crisis with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

“We demand effective counteraction to the Russian Federation. Sanctions must be further strengthened,” he wrote on the micro-blogging platform.

The Russian military operation in Ukraine has not only been condemned by leaders across the world, but protests within the country is growing against President Vladimir Putin’s aggression.
