On the 2nd of December During the web summit conference, PayPal CEO Dan Schulman Spoke about PayPal adding cryptocurrency trading to its platform and why cryptocurrencies will be going mainstream.
During the interview he said that at PayPal they view cryptos as a natural extension of their digital wallets: “As we thought about it, digital wallets are a natural complement to digital currencies. We’ve got over 360 million digital wallets and we need to embrace cryptocurrencies.”
Back in October Paypal has announced that it will allow their customers access to cryptocurrency trading using their platform. Using Paypal right now you can buy and sell Bitcoin, Ether, Bitcoin Cash, and Litecoin.
Schulman continued that he thinks cryptocurrencies will be coming to the mainstream very soon, that more and more merchants are accepting it. PayPal Itself will allow users to shop with almost 28 million of their merchants using cryptocurrencies, giving people the ability not only to use cryptocurrencies as investment tools but also as regular currency.
Cryptocurrencies have a lot of advantages compared to regular money. PayPal CEO spoke about those advantages as well, here is his direct quote: “I think that if you can create a financial system, a new and modern technology that is faster, that is less expensive, more efficient, that’s good for bringing more people into the system, for inclusion, to help drive down costs, to help drive financial health for so many people… So, over the long run, I’m very bullish on digital currencies of all kinds”
